Regardless of family income, future Rams who want to be considered for federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs—including grants, scholarships, work-study, and loans—should complete the FAFSA form.
1. Get ready to file.
Before you begin, there are a couple things you can do to get ready.
First, you and your parent/guardian will each need to register for your own FSA ID using social security numbers (SSN) and email addresses. Learn more about creating your account(s).
Next, gather the information and documents you’ll need—like SSNs, tax returns, and driver's license numbers. See the list here.
2. Fill out the FAFSA.
When you’re ready, log into fafsa.gov to fill out the 2023-24 FAFSA form. It takes most people less than one hour.

3. Apply to be a Ram.
If you haven’t already, submit your application to Shepherd! Applying is fast and easy—no fee, essay, or test scores are required. You’ll be automatically considered for merit scholarships and get your admission decision quickly.
